Clothed in the Grace of God

From The Porterbrook Network's module, 'Reading the Bible in Missional Perspective':

God covers sin and its degradation. Here we may recall the biblical picture of justification: the gift of a new robe, rich and pure. History is irreversible, but God is able to do a new thing: we remain sinners, with no merit of our own to show, but where sin has abounded, grace has abounded all the more. And the amazing thing is that God brings to fulfillment in the garments of salvation depicted in the beginning by those of Genesis, the paradoxical, revelatory function of clothing. Clothed in the grace of God, the children of God are freer and more open to the eye of God and man than were Adam and Eve. We are perfectly protected and perfectly disclosed.
