We've recently completed membership interviews with several people and I've asked some of them to talk about why they've become part of the Christ Church family. Here's Brad Wilkerson's story:
I started coming to Christ Community last fall. I had been going to the same church all through college, but I looked up and realized that I had become very disconnected. Also, I saw that most of the people with whom I had the closest friendships were at Christ Community. So I started visiting sporadically and I just felt like there was a sense of family at Christ Community that I wanted to be a part of. I took a couple months to think and pray about it and started really considering switching permanently. I remember talking to John Evans about my decision one night and he told me, “Sometimes you just have to act and give God an opportunity to bless you.” So I acted and God blessed.
In the past few months that I’ve been attending Christ Community, what I saw and longed for last fall is exactly what I have become a part of - a family. It has been such a blessing to be able to do life and worship God with people who love me and encourage me. I look forward to the worship gathering every Sunday because I know that I am going to hear the gospel and be reminded that I am free to love because I have been loved first by God.
Recently, I have started working at the church office as the “office manager.” It is really cool how God provided this job for me, and I have enjoyed getting to know and work with Matt, Aaron, Justin, and Philip. It’s so good to have godly, older men as friends to pour into me and teach me. I have much to learn, but it’s been fun so far.
