We've recently completed membership interviews with several people and I've asked some of them to talk about why they've become part of the Christ Church family. Here's Wyatt and Meg Martin's story:
When we first moved to Athens in June of last year, we had heard only great things about Christ Community Church. We moved to Athens to go on staff with Campus Outreach at the University of Georgia. Christ Community automatically felt like the best fit for us because many of the students and staff involved with Campus Outreach are also involved with Christ Community. We came to visit once last summer and we have been hooked ever since.
One thing that really drew us to Christ Community was the idea of being a family of missionaries. Being a "family" sounded really good to us because we had just moved away from all of our college friends and both sets of our parents and siblings. We were making a completely new start in Athens, and we didn't want this new start to be devoid of deep and lasting friendships that point us toward Christ.
We wanted to become members of Christ Community because it has really begun to feel like our church… a place that we call home with people we can call family. We are excited for opportunities to serve the church and the community. Most of all, we are excited to develop continually deeper friendships that are centered on the gospel; full of truth, grace and compassion.
