We’ve recently completed membership interviews with several people and I’ve asked some of them to talk about why they’ve become part of the Christ Church family. Here’s Maddie Lopez’s story: Christ Community for me means a place where I was welcomed in and encouraged to stay by people who were also welcomed in and stayed. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 says “So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.” The members of Christ Community Church share this sentiment. I wanted to become a part of this church because Jesus is the message they share, welcoming in people and wanting to share their lives with them. Jesus is proclaimed, and that is what keeps me coming back. I started going about a year ago as a Freshman at UGA and wondered if I would ever find a place here in Athens. Christ Community has become a home where I didn’t think I would ever feel at home. Here I’ve learned the importance of the church in my everyday life. I am continually thankful for my time at this church and I am looking forward to what is to come.
