Cross Cultural Project

Read from member Caitlin Cornwell about the Cross Cultural Project that Campus Outreach goes on each summer. A number of our students will be headed to South Africa for two months in the coming weeks!

“I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall tell of your mighty acts.”
{Psalm 145:1-4}

The Cross Cultural Project (CCP) is designed with this in mind:  that students would see that the Lord’s “greatness is unsearchable” and that they would acquire a vision for “commending his works to another” for the rest of their lives.

Who:  3 staff and 19 students from UGA, GA Tech, and North GA College and State University

When:  May 9-July 3

Where:  Johannesburg, South Africa

What:  partnering with Campus Outreach staff and student leaders at the University of Johannesburg with the goal of sharing the gospel on the university campus and establishing students in their faith.  Our students will be divided into ministry pairs and will each be assigned a dorm on the campus to spend time in, cultivating relationships with South African students, sharing the gospel, and starting investigative Bible studies.

Why:  South Africa is considered the “hope of the continent”, having one of the most advanced education systems and economies in Africa.  Students come from all over Africa to attend college in major cities in South Africa.  The vision of Campus Outreach at the University of Johannesburg is to reach these students with the gospel while they are in school so that they will go back to their homes all across Africa and reach their families and communities with the gospel.

Please PRAY

  • For the students going, that God would enlarge their view of Him as the God of the nations and Jesus as the only hope for all!
  • For the South Africans we will be spending time with—that many would come to know Jesus and long to share Him with others!
