We’re running a short series where we profile our community groups here on the blog. This serves two purposes: first, it gives people who aren’t already in a group a better idea of what our groups are like and which one might be a good fit for them. Second, it gives everyone a better idea of what’s happening in other parts of our church. Next up is Ryan Schulze's group.
Who's the leader?
Where and when do you meet?
We meet on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. at my house, 194B Talmadge Street.
Who are you?
I am a senior at UGA, majoring in Advertising. I love Jesus and want to see his name proclaimed in Athens.
How does a usual meeting go?
Usually, our meetings get rolling about 7:15 and we talk through Matt's sermon this week. This semester we may be going through a book together but regardless of what we are talking about or studying we always connect sharing personal experiences and things about our walk with Christ as college students. At the end we pray for people in our lives that don't know Jesus.
What kinds of things go on outside the weekly meeting? Do you have a third place? Do you do other activities on a regular basis or is it an occasional thing?
This past semester, every few weeks we go to play trivia at Johnny's Pizza on Thursday nights. Also this semester we are hoping to do a lot more community outreach and mercy ministry.
What’s your group’s story?
Our group began this semester. Our story is simply that we are a group of college students who are trying to follow Jesus well in this unique stage of life. We are fighting to be stewards of the grace and the blessings that God has given us.
