Studying Scripture Together: Favorite Verse

We are continuing this week with posting our Members’ favorite bible verses as well as a random fact about them. Our hope is that this will not only help us read & learn scripture together, but allow us to connect with each other. If you would like to participate, please email Stephen Terry at sterry@missionathens.com.

Random Fact: I can't think of one right now. You'll have to come ask me for one.

Favorite Verse: Micah 6:8.  "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

It is formed as a question in the bible, but it is actually the simplest answer of all.  What does my God require of me.  Three simple things. They are three things that I am sure we all struggle with, but only three simple things.  It has always been one of my favorite versus growing up in church world and one that I have tried to live by.   I was at my grandmother's funeral sitting with Amy and my family at my home church in Charlotte years ago.  It was not until then when it was read at her funeral that I realized that it was her favorite verse too and she had asked to have it read at her funeral.  As I thought about her and that verse there in that church.  There was no doubt that she had been a living example of what Micah 6:8 was all about.  What a testimony of her life.   I can only hope that my grandchildren will feel the same way about me someday.
