Another addition to introducing our new members through sharing a little of their story. Our hope is that these stories will allow us to grow closer as a family as well as an avenue to share the story of our city.
"My story is not extravagant, riddled with hardship, or dramatic book material, but it is truly amazing. My God saw fit to give me loving, God-fearing parents and surrounded me with a community of believers. I asked God into my heart when I was five years old. I was watching TV when I decided to ask my mom about salvation, and told her that I wanted to be a part of it. She prayed with me and started crying, though she swore to me she wasn’t crying. I firmly believe that I was saved that afternoon, but my life didn’t really change until a little later on.
I grew up in the church, and was there every time the doors were open...be it Saturday cleanings, Sunday mornings, or Wednesday youth activities. I knew all the answers and could recite my catechism without stumbling. The thing that I lacked was heart knowledge. Until about 5th or 6th grade, I was essentially using my salvation as a “get out of Hell free” card, but when I hit middle school this began to change. I became a huddle leader for my school’s FCA program and in doing so, along with the challenges from my outstanding Sunday school teacher, I began to grow in my relationship with Christ and allowed His love to change my life.
Since that time in my life, I have greatly enjoyed getting to know my God personally and Glorifying Him with my life. I am currently involved with the Navigators on campus and am being discipled by one of the leaders in the ministry. This has been monumental in my walk with Christ, as I have someone praying for me, talking with me, laughing with me, crying with me, and challenging me daily to walk closer and more intimately with my Savior. Am I perfect? Not even remotely close, but I know that one day I will be, and will get to spend eternity in a party celebrating my God."
