It's not easy to follow Jesus in the American South. At least not the biblical Jesus. It's far easier to follow another Jesus who asks nothing from us and offers nothing more than a religiously glazed substitute for the trappings of our surrounding culture. But easier doesn't always add up to biblical. So it's easier if church is just a place to show up, but the scriptures describe church as a family to which we belong. And while it would be nice if church existed to serve me the biblical reality is that we exist for the church - to support its worship and work to the best of our ability.
We'll never pretend that this life is easy. But we are convinced that life together is undoubtedly better - we were made for each other in a life that declares and displays the greatness and glory of God.
